About Preserving Hope

This newsletter investigates, documents, and promotes efforts to make preservation for life extension universally accessible, so as to give terminally ill individuals a chance at living longer in the future. It is also the official newsletter of the Brain Preservation Foundation.

About The Brain Preservation Foundation

The Brain Preservation Foundation is an American non-profit organization founded in 2010 with the goal of promoting validated scientific research, knowledge, and technical services development in the field of whole human brain preservation for long-term static storage. We also work on the accessibility, affordability, and sustainability of brain preservation procedures and technology, and provide scientific and public education on topics such as the neural foundations of learning and memory, brain preservation, scanning techniques, and whole brain emulation (“mind uploading”).

About Ariel Zeleznikow-Johnston

Dr Ariel Zeleznikow-Johnston is a neuroscientist and the author of The Future Loves You: How and Why We Should Abolish Death. Ariel is also the Executive Director for the Brain Preservation Foundation.

Previously, he was a Research Fellow at Monash University, Australia, where he investigated methods for characterising the nature of conscious experiences. In 2019, he obtained his PhD from The University of Melbourne, where he researched how genetic and environmental factors affect cognition. His research interests range from the decline, preservation and rescue of cognitive function at different stages of the lifespan, through to comparing different people’s conscious experience of colour.

By contributing to research that clarifies the neurobiological, cognitive, and philosophical basis of what it is to be a person, he hopes to accelerate the development of medical infrastructure that will help prevent him and everyone else from dying.
